Remember, remember the 5th of November, gunpowder treason and plot.
On the 5th of November, 1605, a plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament and the monarchy was discovered at the eleventh hour. Guy Fawkes - a proud Yorkshireman, former pupil of St. Peter’s School York, and a key instigator of the plot - was found hidden in the parliament cellar chambers, amongst twenty old wine barrels filled with explosive gunpowder.
Had the plot succeeded, it would have changed the course of history.
A fellow Yorkshireman and St. Peter’s alumni (albeit four centuries apart), this winemaker’s ideology is to use these barrels for good… to ignite your taste buds.
Gunpowder Wines is a passion project that pays homage to Yorkshire heritage and ancestral roots. Yorkshire folk are known for being elaborate storytellers, and never letting the truth get in the way of a good story. Every time a bottle of Gunpowder wine is opened presents a new opportunity to share the story of the Gunpowder Plot.
Enjoy and cheers!
